Welcome to Vertical Skiing!

This site is about alpine skiing and is focused on the vertical drop skied within a certain time-frame. It covers a variety of records, events and competitions in the specialty.

Included are records held at specific ski areas, starting of course with Aspen and continuing with Deer Valley and Snowbird, both in Utah, all using traditional ski lifts. The site reviews special events, like the newly minted "12 Hours of Snowbird", the "Can Do MS Vertical Express" (formerly Jimmie Heuga Express) or the now defunct 24 Hours of Aspen as well as vertical records achieved with the help of unconventional means such as helicopters.

We want to cover a worldly view of vertical skiing and we welcome contributions, comments and tidbits of information that can enrich this site and make it more relevant, so please don't hesitate to leave a comment or e-mail me with a story and some tables or photographs!
